On August 15, 1040, the Scottish King Duncan I is killed by his first cousin Mac Bethad mac Findlaích (anglicized as Macbeth), after Duncan has moved his army north into Moray, which MacBeth views as his territory.
On the same day in 1057 MacBeth is killed at the battle of Lumphanan by the forces of Máel Coluim mac Donnchada, the eldest son of Duncan I and future King Malcolm III.
